Yay! so my pretty new pink blog launched and what better to celebrate then to kick things off with a new blog series and even bet yet what a better way to start off then a MAC lipstick, the Goddess of lipsticks. Piter and I were roaming Clearwater Mall, I explained to him the need that I feel to just go and buy a MAC lipstick, my very own, first MAC lipstick. I expressed my concerns to him as you can read all sorts of horror stories on social media about how the MAC counter and their assistants can be quiet intimidating. Well – he forced me to the MAC counter and to my surprise I had the most friendly and cutest assistant. The first lipstick I swatched was the cult classic Velvet Teddy, and it didn’t look so great wit my skin tone. I then swatched a whole lot more and the one that really stood out was Brave.
I wanted my first MAC lipstick to be versatile, and something everyday. Something that suited my skin tone well and Brave did all that. Brave is a subtle shade with a slight hint of plum. It is nothing crazy and surly works as a nude on my skin.
So lets talk about the quality. Well I think it speaks for itself, online you would find thousands of MAC Rave Reviews and I wouldn’t have expected anything less, I mean they were designed on the pure basis for photography by the makeup artist and photographer, Frank Toskan as he was frustrated with the lack of colours for shooting photos. He literally cooked up the makeup in his kitchen and sold them and that’s how MAC was born
The Packaging? sturdy and simple but a very minimalist design. All the focus was in the quality of products.
So lets get down to the formulation. It is a creamy formulation that sure doesn’t need a lot of applying as the pigmentation is so great. Brave has a satin finish which leaves you lips look smooth and voluptuous. I get about 5 hours wear before I need to reapply. The formulation did not leave my lips dry which most lipsticks tend to do. You can get any MAC lipstick at R220.00 a pop which is a little steep but totally worth the investment.
