Finally my first ever Makeup Revolution review is up and what a journey it was indeed. From placing the order to paying extremely expensive shipping prices not to mention the surprise customs and duties I had to pay (another R200). Waiting one month and finally making the decision to drive 100km to the International Johannesburg mailing centre because I decided waiting 1 more week for the SAPO to deliver my order would just be torture when I knew my beautiful things were in the country. So I pledged that I would blog about every product from my Makeup Revolution haul and today is the first of many.
One of the products I ordered was this ravishing Ultra Sculpt and Contour Kit in Ultra Fair C01. I was really attracted to this product as it is one of my goals to try this contouring thing out and hopefully one day master it. So I opted to purchase the lovely little pallet as it contained a contouring shade, a highlighting shade and a beautiful blush. Everything you need to contour in one sturdy compact for the price of £4 which is more or less about R80.
I went with the Shade Ultra Fair which is originally for fair skin tones but I guessed that it would be light enough for me to start experimenting as I didn’t want any drastic heavily dark pigmented contour shades. This was perfect for my first baby steps to contouring and the brown contour colour was perfect, I actually liked it so much that I sometimes use it as a blush. It really gives the most Opulent effect to my face…but concentration focused on the contouring side if things. I contoured the hallows of my cheeks to make my face look slimmer, my forehead and my nose. I was amazed how I barely touched the product with my brush as it was so pigmented their was no need to force and swish and swirl my brush in the product. The formula was so creamy and blendable making my first experience with contouring a breeze. I really love this brown shade as a contour shade that doubles as a blush, I am so relieved I took pictures before I started playing as this poor baby has been working.
Next the highlight shade is so gorgeous and it left all the places well…highlighted and sparkly. It is also very well pigmented and shows no signs of product fall out. The Blush is a golden, shimmery peach toned colour which as with the bronzer a little went a long way. I only wish that the blush had been matte because I found it weird to be wearing a glowing highlight and a glowing blush but hey, no problem I just mix and match as both these formulas and shades are versatile. I am astonished by the quality of these powders as they are silky smooth, pigmented and easily blendable. I did not swatch the Blush quiet intensely so please excuse the pic, but trust me its pigmented.
I have had no problem whatsoever with the staying power of this kit and I haven’t felt the slightest need to touch up through the day which is a bonus. I have to say that Makeup Revolution did a great job with this kit and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for any contour kit whatsoever, experienced or experimenting this has to be a must have in all collections.
